Halloween Luncheon - 2008
Vancouver Belles
7th Annual Halloween Party
On Saturday, October 25, 2009, the Quay Restaurant in Vancouver, Washington, was invaded again by nearly five score costumed Red Hatters for the 7th Annual Halloween Party hosted by the Vancouver Belles. Members from five other Red Hat Society Chapters joined the Belles. Guests included several sexy devilettes, a party girl or two, a group of highway flaggers complete with stop signs, a “homeless” party crasher, a scarecrow, a leopard, numerous witches of various descriptions including an entire coven of the glitziest witches you have ever seen, a charge card from the Bank of Shop ‘til You Drop, and a ghoul from “Scream” whose identity kept us guessing for some time!
Tables were decorated with whimsical pumpkins, individually designed and painted by Princess Tamara. These pumpkins also served as door prizes for ladies lucky enough to hold a winning ticket!
The Glitzy Gals “coven” arrived en mass each bearing a “dressed to the nines” bear. Each bear was dressed and accessorized by the owner witch. Who knew such glitzy witches could be so creative! Some bears could be said to have “broken” the unofficial local motto, “You’re not wearing too much glitz unless you fall over from the weight of it.” Several threats of bear-napping were heard due to the amount of sparkles on the bears. The Vancouver Belles were asked to choose the winner of the Glitzy Gals “Bear Decorating Contest.” The favorite was a pirate whose eye patch was as glittery as his necklace.
After a leisurely luncheon and great conversation, the curiously garbed ladies departed for places unknown via various modes of transportation. However, an unusual phenomenon was reported in the sky over Vancouver early Saturday afternoon … some folks said it looked like a flock of very large black birds with bright sparkling feathers. Others said it looked like Halloween had arrived a week early because the ski was full of witches on brooms!
See you next year!
